On Vacation!

We are currently in Cape Girardeau MO right now for our friend Riley's wedding which is tomorrow. (He was one of the ushers in our wedding - you might also know him as "Beefy") It's been great seeing more friends of ours that we haven't seen in a long time. They are Marines that Ski was stationed with in Beaufort SC. Ski's mom Judy, stepdad Steve, brother Bryan and (Soon to be) sister-in-law Noel drove down from Ohio to see us (actually to see Cadence - we are just a bonus) They are going to watch her tomorrow for us while we go to the wedding and actually have a night to ourselves. (Not exactly sure what that is like since it's been so long!) After the wedding we will be driving to Ohio and spending the night there Sunday night. Monday we are heading to Michigan to spend a couple days in Detroit and in Rogers City. Pictures to come soon!! (I hope!)

Spending the day with the kids

The kids and I had a really nice today before they left for Texas. I took them to lunch at Mcdonalds (Their absolute favorite restaurant in the world - chicken nuggets all around!) After they played, I took them to baskin Robbins for ice cream. Ski came home and then we took them to LAX to catch their flight.

Packing the bag - they tried to take Cadence with them!!!!

It's officially Summer time!

Matt and Jacqui are now 3rd and 4th graders!!!! Today was their last day of school and they are so excited! They are all wound up, running around here like lunatics! On Monday they are going to Cody and Summers house to spend time with their dad and his family. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself for 6 whole weeks.

In the mean time, Matthew also wrote a poem at school about Cadence and he wanted me to put it on here like Jacqui's. Here is his poem:

My Baby Sister

I get a drink and
Crawl Crawl Crawl
She's GONE

I have to chase her
It's a hard job to keep
track of her

Crawl Crawl Crawl

I've got her!

Jacqui's Poem

Jacqui's class had a Poem Party today. All the kids wrote their own poems and read them out loud to their groups. They invited their parents to come so Cadence and I went to listen to her poem. This is Jacqui's:

Friends

I can tell if
People are my friends
Or not...

I can tell
they're not because
they're always mean.
If I tell they say
"no I didn't..."

I can tell
If they are my friends
Because we barely fight
But, if we do we say
"Sorry" and move on
not keep a
grudge...

I can tell if
People are my friends
Or not...

~Jacqui~

The Shockers

Ski is playing ball now. He is on a lunch time softball team on base called The Shockers. I'm so glad he got back into playing ball cause I love to watch him play. Cadence and I go to all of his games.

Mike and Teresa

The last two weeks it seems we've been lucky enough to see friends of ours that we haven't seen in years. Today we got to see the Kristeks! Ski and I met Mike in Japan. He was in Ski's shop. Since then Mike has gone on to do MSG duty (Marine Security Guard) When he was done with that he came back to the states, got married to Teresa (who is such a sweet and caring person!), changed MOS's and has spent most of the last year and a half over sea's in Iraq on two separate deployments.

He's one of those guys who has a good time no matter where he is!

Lets just say he's rather sick of hot weather and sand at this point.

Before he went on this last deployment he and his wife found out she was pregnant. She was 3 months pregnant when he left and they were so worried that he wouldn't make it home for the birth. However, 4 HOURS after he got off the plane his wife went into labor! Talk about good timing. They had a baby boy who they named "Michael Robert Kristek Jr" - he looks JUST LIKE his dad!!!

Congratulations you guys!!! He's beautiful! Hope you get some sleep soon!

Our day at Sea World

Many many years ago, (like 10 years to be exact - July of 1996) a pregnant 18 yr old LCpl (that was me...) walked into Avionics workcenter 65G at MCAS Miramar. I was greeted by Sgt Olsen who was the supervisor at the time. Over the next few years, he and his family became very good friends of mine. He was the person that the military police called when I crashed Cody's brand new mustang into a guard rail on my way to work when I was 9 months pregnant. (I remember the MP saying into the phone "Yes Sgt, we realize she is pregnant" when he called to let my workcenter know that I wouldn't be at work that day because I was on my way to the hospital. I was ALL belly - it was hard to miss!) He came out with us for my 21 birthday and bought me one of my first "legal" drinks. His wife Becky is just as sweet (and CRAZY) as can be and we spent countless hours laughing together. Sgt Olsen became SSgt Olsen and we continued to work together in the 600 office and then again when we both went to Japan. I haven't seen them since before I got out of the Marine Corps in 2001. Today we met up at Sea World and got to catch up before they move to San Fransisco this Monday! It was so good to see them again!

Ski's new INK!!!!!

Cadence is almost 9 months old already!!!! 8 months ago Ski decided it would be awesome to get a tattoo of her footprints. At that time she was 1 month old - thank goodness we inked her feet then because if we did it now that would be one huge tattoo!

So here we are - 8 months later - and he finally has his tattoo. He contemplated getting "Daddy's Girl" under them but if we have another child and it's a girl - well, that isn't exactly fair to her! He got it done at Avalon Tattoo by Marty.

Marty also did our other Tattoo's when Ski and I got the Cross with each others initials. (Yes, getting a tattoo on your foot is pretty painful!!! However, it wasn't as bad as I thought!) If you are ever in San Diego and want a tattoo - I highly recommend going to Avalon!

VEGAS Baby

This weekend we went to Las Vegas NV. My stepmom Peggy lives there with my stepbrother Trevor. Peggy is going to school right now to be a dealer at the casino's. My dad will be retiring from Crystler soon and will move out there later this year.

My stepbrother Jason is in the Army as a Medic and leaves for Iraq this September. He and his wife Monique came out for a visit to see everyone before he leaves for Iraq. We wish him well over there!!!!

This was Jacqui and Matt's first time in Vegas. They LOVED it. Matt said "This is the best day of my life!!! It's my favorite city!" My favorite part of the whole trip was watching their faces as they took it all in. Cadence was such a good baby. She just sat in her stroller looking at everything and never fussed. That girl stayed up till Midnight cause she didn't want to miss anything!

4th of July Weekend!!!!

This weekend we had a reunion of sorts. Two of our friends came to visit us for the weekend. Tommy and Mike. We all met in Japan a very long time ago. Tom is Ski's best friend (and best man at our wedding) He is stationed in Northern California at NAS Lemoore as a Radar instructor. Mike was Ski's roommate in Iwakuni. He is currently stationed at Pendleton training for his deployment to Iraq in September. This will be his second tour over there.

It was a really fun weekend. Our plans to go to Sea World fell through because no one was ready on time. Instead we went to the beach. Well it was more like a Bay. We couldn't find anywhere to park at the actual beach so we went the ghetto way!

I was also able to drag Ski to a Shakespeare play called "A Midsummer Nights Dream" I am taking a class about ancient theatre and going to a play was one of the requirements. It was really good. Kind of hard to understand the words though - especially with Ski in my ear complaining about the fact that they didn't serve popcorn and "Who the hell talks like this anyway???" All I could do was just shake my head - man I love my husband.
