Lyons Softball Team

Not only are we juggling baseball, but this year Jacqui is on the girls softball team so we have to also take her back and forth to practice and games. Here in North Carolina, it's starting to warm up but I will tell you - at night - it's cold. Very cold. Her first game Ski had to take Cadence and Matt to the car cause it was just too cold for them. My poor baby just didn't have a good game at all. She was freezing for one thing and because of that, she couldn't catch the ball to save her life. Then she wouldn't speak to me cause at 11 that is what you do when your mom tries to make you feel better.

This weekend, however, was a completely different story! It was a beautiful 80 degrees outside! Here she is walking out to second base.

Look how cool and collected she is out at second. It's like she's completely at home out there. I wish I looked this confident when I was 11! Actually I wish I looked this confident at 30!!

It amazes me still that children of mine - that I contributed half the DNA to - are so athletic.

Did I ever mention how much I LOVE to watch my kids play ball?

She has come a long way in her batting. No more stepping out of the box before the ball even leaves the pitchers hand!

At third - on her way home!!!!

She is sliding into home to score the first run of the game - which they won 10 to 3!!! It was a great game!

It's going to be a long but fun 7 weeks watching them do what they do best! Hopefully the rain won't cancel too many games for them! I also hope there are enough suckers at the snack bar to bribe Cadence with so that she'll sit still and let me watch all these games!!!

Play Ball!!!

Well it's that time of year again!!! Baseball season! Matt is on the Elks Lodge team. Between his games and practices, and Jacqui's games and practices, we are at the field 6 days a week. It makes for a long night (and very tired kids) when we don't get home until 9:30 or 10:00pm. Ski just left for a 7 week career course so I'm left to juggle it all on my own! I'm looking forward to that, I have to tell ya! But I LOVE to watch them play so it's totally worth it.

Matt's opening ceremony was early in the morning and we were all tired!!!!

The Elks Lodge team!

The face of a little boy that LOVES to play ball!

He was being introduced at the opening ceremony. Don't you just love how he "tips his hat" to the audience! He's going to be a crowd pleaser!

His arm is so natural. He makes it look so easy!!

He'd never let the pitcher intimidate him!!!

Matt on first base. You know he's already planning to slide into home whether he actually needs to or not!

I was published!!!

So back in September, was one of the sponsors for a project called "America at Home" Each day they had a different theme such as evening routine, morning routine, afternoon routine, your sanctuary, dinnertime - etc. For that entire week you could submit three photographs of your home under each theme. Well low and behold - my picture of Ski sleeping on the bed got chosen for the book! If your photo got chosen, then you got a free copy of the book. My copy came in the mail the other day!

You can also get a copy of the book yourself if you want at this link:
"America at Home"

Not sure how close you can see the picture in the book so here is the actual picture I sent!

April showers bring May flowers!

It's hard to keep a two year old busy - it's especially hard to keep THIS two year old busy and away from the TV for more then 5 seconds. So I found a nice little project for us to do OUTSIDE! I decided that we were going to plant some flowers. Mind you, I am the same individual that could probably kill an artificial plant if I wasn't careful but I'm trying here people!

Notice that HUGE bag of dirt that I bought to fill the tiny little pot. I was a little ambitious it seems.
I even bought her a little watering can. We over do the water on occasion. I'm sometimes afraid that she's even worse then I am with plants. Though, I don't see how that could be possible.
It wasn't till after we planted our seeds that I remembered my big plan to paint our pots so that she could give it that special touch.

Oh she was so proud of her plants. We probably don't water them as much as we should but I do see a little green starting to show through so we aren't doing as bad as I thought we were.
