2 years old!!!

Cadence Evelina is 2 years old!!!!

She had a great birthday and kept telling everyone it was her "Happy!" Here are a few pictures from her day!

She thought it was so cool when everyone sang to her and she even blew out the candle all by herself!

We also had visitors in from New York. Eileen and her son Austin were staying with us over the weekend so he could visit his dad! She and I were in the Marine Corps together in Japan. We had such a good time talking all night and sharing the entire chocolate cake - skipping minor formalities such as plates...

For J and Matt Matt

This post is for my babies Jacqui and Matt who are visiting their dad in Texas. I miss you guys so much and can't wait to see you! I just wanted to post some pictures of your sister for you so you can see how much she has been changing over the last few weeks. She talks so much - as you have heard over the phone and misses you guys like crazy. She walks around looking at your pictures and calls both of you "Matt". We all can't wait to see you! Hope you like the pictures!!! I love you!

I'm not sure why exactly this amazes me so much but I still can't believe (a year and a half later) how much Jacqui and Cadence look alike! (I know, they are sisters, they share DNA, it's gonna happen!)

This first picture is Jacqui when she was Cadences age, standing with Theresa's son Jake here in California. I had just bought her that hat at the San Diego zoo and thought she looked so cute. I LOVED that hat. (I know this picture is kind of small - click on it to get a better look at just HOW cute she looks in it!)



Ten years later, here is Cadence in California. I just bought this hat from the San Diego zoo (again) last month. I still LOVE that hat. (Although, you'd think the zoo would come up with a new hat design after 10 years) My girls look exactly alike! Just looking at her brings me back to when Jacqui was that little and it's so great to get those memories back.

Life with a toddler!

Cadence is officially a toddle and she has an abundance of energy that unfortunately I do not share! Everyday is an adventure with this girl. One minute she's climbing, the next minute she is in the dogs food, the next minute she is going up the stairs. I need about 6 pairs of eyes and 8 pairs of arms to keep up with her. I am very impressed with Ski though because he has expressed patience that I never knew existed. (His little girl can do NO wrong!!!!)

The girl LOVES to climb - on anything!!! I can't turn my head for 2 seconds without her getting up on something! (The poor dog doesn't even get a break, she sees her as the perfect jungle gym also!)

Yes, ladies and gentleman, that is my daughters FOOT stepping in the dogs water dish - she thought it was hilarious! Me - not so much!!


After her big leap into the water, she decided to pick the entire bowl up and dump it out all over herself. (Let me just add a little footnote right here: Daddy was less then 3 feet from her when this all took place...)


In this picture she is pointing to her shoes. Her FAVORITE shoes. It doesn't matter what she is wearing - a dress, jeans, jogging suit, footed pajama's - these black patent leather shoes must be worn with it! They make for some interesting outfits sometimes!

Cadences Birthday Party!

Saturday we had a birthday party for Cadence. She wasn't sure exactly why all of those people were at our house though! It was a lot of fun - Aunt April, you know I had to make my favorite Taco Salad!!! Thank you to everyone that came to celebrate with us!!!! The very cute birthday outfit she is wearing is from her Uncle Bryan and Aunt Noel!!!

I can't believe my baby girl is a year old already! These are a few pictures of our birthday girl taken before she went to bed for the night. Her party is Saturday but she had to open some presents on her birthday!!!

Happy OCTOBER...

October is a HUGE month for us! We are very busy because...

October 13 - My birthday
October 16 - our 2 year anniversary
October 19 - Cadence's 1st birthday
October 25 - Ski's birthday

and that is just our immediate family - we have other friends and family with birthdays this month also. It just so happens, my birthday was Friday the 13th this year. Not unlucky for me at all - in fact, I was treated to a very lovely dinner at Benihana's by my handsome hubby. My friend Amiee watched the kids for us. (Thank you very much!!! I know it's crazy with 5 kids at once!) After dinner we sat on our porch with our neighbors Denise and Rob. They baked us a cake and gave us each a gift! It was very nice!
